No Sticky Bonus

A no sticky bonus is not the usual type of bonus that you find in online casinos. To make this clear you can read the example below. Let say you just claimed a 100% bonus up to 100EUR on your deposit through a no sticky bonuns casino site. This basically means that you received a 100EUR cash balance to play with and a 100EUR bonus balance. Now, no sticky bonus is the opposite of the sticky one, meaning that you will be able to cash out the initial amount you received from the operator, after meeting the requirements, of course. You probably think that non-sticky ones are better than the sticky ones, which is partially true. However, there is a catch.

NON-STICKY BONUSES

.. or Parachute, Forfeitable and Lifeline Bonuses (A dear child has many names..) are a type of bonus that allows you to cancel the bonus and withdraw your winnings as long as you haven't touched the bonus amount of your balance.

For example:

You make a 20€ deposit with a 100% non-sticky bonus. This means that you will have 20€ in 'real money balance' and 20€ in 'bonus money balance'. Real money is always used first. If you never drop below 20€ balance you can cancel the bonus at any time. This is good especially if you happen to win big early on. This way you don't have to complete the wagering requirement and risk losing your winnings.

A typical non-sticky bonus is something between 50% to 100% of your deposit. If you see a 200% bonus up to 500€ for example - there is a good chance that it is not a non-sticky bonus.

There are slight variations between different non-sticky bonuses. Some bonuses start the wagering immediately and some only start once you have touched the Bonus Amount.

Only way to find out for sure if a bonus is non-sticky or not is to read the promotional terms and conditions carefully. If it reads something like 'Real money is used first' or 'Bonus and Cash Balance are kept separate' in there, it should be a non-sticky bonus. If you're not sure you can always ask in Live Chat.

Non-sticky bonuses are quickly becoming more popular due to new regulations done by the UK Gambling Commission. You will definitely start seeing more and more casinos offering these. I will keep this page up-to-date as things change. Good Luck!

BEFORE TAKING A BONUS

It is never a good idea to join a new casino and start playing right away. You should always read the promotional terms and conditions carefully before starting your play.

I have done my best to do this research for you in my reviews, but it is still recommended that you as a player will have a look anyway. Below you will find a list of things you should always check before making your first deposit.

1. Check if your country is eligible for signing up and taking bonuses.

2. Make sure you don’t have any other accounts self-excluded or closed within the same company. Quick google search with the company name should show you all the associated casinos.

3. Check the promotional terms and conditions for things like: maximum bet, wagering requirement, restricted games, maximum conversion and if you’re using Neteller or Skrill, check if deposits are allowed with these payment methods.

4. If you want to get away with less hassle, I would suggest verifying your account before making any deposits.

5. Check what type of bonus you’re about to take. Is it a sticky or non-sticky bonus?

TERMINOLOGY
Sticky

First Deposit Bonus: A bonus that new players joining a casino will receive when they make their first deposit. This is usually anything between 50% to 200% match for your deposit. The amount of bonus received will have a wagering requirement attached to it that you will have to complete before you can request a withdrawal.

No Deposit Bonus: Like the name suggests, a no deposit bonus is a bonus that new players will receive after they have created a new account - without having to make a deposit.

No deposit bonuses can be anything from free spins, free cash to free bets. In most cases you will have to get through a certain wagering requirement before a no deposit bonus is turned into withdrawable funds - and even then, you will most likely have to do a small deposit to be able to withdraw your winnings. Winnings from a no deposit bonus are often capped to a certain sum.

Non-Sticky Bonus: The opposite of a “sticky bonus” or normal bonus. A non-sticky bonus is a bonus where your real money funds and bonus funds are kept separate. This way you can request a withdrawal at any point if you haven't touched the bonus portion of your balance yet.

For example:

You make a deposit of 20€ with a 100% non-sticky bonus. This means you will start with a 20€ in real money and 20€ in bonus money. Real money is always used first. So, if you haven't dropped below 20€ balance at any point of your play, you can cancel the bonus and withdraw your winnings. If you did at some point drop below 20€ balance you will have to complete the wagering requirement.

Normally a non-sticky bonus is between 50% to 100% of the deposit. Only way to tell if a bonus is non-sticky is to carefully examine the promotional terms and conditions. If you see a 200% bonus up to 1000€ somewhere, there is a good chance it is not a non-sticky bonus.

Wagering Requirement: Amount of money you are required to play through before being able to request a withdrawal. Wagering requirement can vary a lot between different casinos. Usually it is something like 30 to 50 times the amount deposited. The wagering requirement can apply to both; deposit and bonus amount so, in worst case scenario this can double your wagering requirement if you’re not careful when reading through the bonus terms.

Game Restrictions: Majority of casinos restrict some games when playing with a bonus. These should be listed in the promotional terms and conditions.

Any game where your progress can be saved or any game where you need to collect things to trigger a bonus or a feature is usually restricted when playing with a bonus. Reason being that then you would be able to progress in the game using bonus money and later return and take advantage of it with a real money deposit.

No Sticky Bonus

Some games may not be completely restricted but can be set to only contribute a certain % of the bet amount.

Multiple Accounts: Many companies run multiple casinos under the same license. It is not always allowed to have an account on multiple casinos owned by the same company. Best way to find out if you can create an account or if you already have an account is to ask in live chat. Also, if you have permanently closed your account on other casino inside the same group, you're in most cases not allowed to open an another one – even if it’s not the same casino.

No Sticky Bonus Card

E-Wallet Deposits: If you have a e-wallet such as Neteller or Skrill you probably already know that not all casinos accept e-wallets as a deposit method when using a first deposit bonus. This is because there are records of e-wallets being used in criminal activity and as a money laundering method. Some casinos do allow the use of e-wallets so (once again) check those terms before making a deposit!

Withdrawal Lock: A handy feature that unfortunately not that many casinos yet have. As the name suggests, you can lock your withdrawal until it is processed. If a casino does not have this feature and if you tend to reverse your withdrawals - you can always freeze your account for a day or two.
